SENATE COMMERCE SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIRS NAMED
Mr. Burns of Montana to Communications Post
Washington, DC--Senator John McCain (R-Az), Chairman of the Senate Committee
on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, announced Jan 22, 1997, the new
Commerce Subcommittee chairmen (sic). "In what promises to be an active
committee," McCain said in a press release, "I look forward to working
closely with my colleagues in a bi-partisan fashion to serve the interests of
the country." McCain wishfully added, "Today we have set the foundation for
a productive and unified committee."
Members of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
elected the following Subcommittee chairmen (sic) for the 105th Congress:
Subcommittee on Aviation Slade Gorton, WA
Subcommittee on Communications Conrad Burns, MT
Subcommittee on Consumer Affairs,
Foreign Commerce, and Tourism John Ashcroft, MO
Subcommittee on Manufacturing and
