Adult Services Coordinator for Central Library of Montgomery County
Library System, Conroe, Texas. Salary: $1,019 biweekly. Reports to Branch
Coordinator. Duties include: Supervise adult reference service for Central
Library, materials selection, supervises ILL service, performs reference
regularly, directly supervises 5 MLS librarians and 2 library assistants.
Requirements: ALA MLS, at least 3 years professional reference experience
in a public library, 2 years supervisory experience, computer literate,

budget request annually. Does materials selection and weeding. Does
public relations activities with local community. Works in cooperation
with local Friends group and volunteers. Does direct reference work and
circulation desk work as needed. Interviews, trains, evaluates branch
staff. Requirements: ALA MLS, at least 2 years supervisory experience in

Position Title: Library Assistant VI
Circulation Supervisor, Widener Circulation Services, Access Services Department
Requirements: College degree preferred; previous library experience
required; significant organizational and supervisory experience required;
library circulation experience highly desirable; computer experience
(PC/Windows-based applications) required. Excellent customer service and
interpersonal skills. Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Some heavy lifting of books
and boxes required. The hours for this position are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Friday.
Duties and responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Head of Access
Services in Widener Library, assists in the administration and operation of
the Circulation Services unit. Responsible for the daily management and
overall supervision of the Widener Circulation Desk, including opening the
desk each business day. Hires, schedules, trains, and supervises ca. 40
students and casual staff members. Processes time slips for student and
casual staff and maintains online records for time worked. Resolves
scheduling problems and communicates with students and casuals via regular
memoranda and e-mail. Coordinates and oversees workflow of five support
staff. Performs basic circulation functions, including charging materials;
initiating recalls, traces and storage retrievals. Assists patrons in
solving problems in locating materials (at the desk, by phone, and by
e-mail); enforces and interprets library policies. Coordinates workflow
and scheduling with Stacks, Privileges, Billing, and other Access Services
units. Responsible for communicating as appropriate with Building
Services, Security, Cataloging Services, Preservation, and off-site storage
depositories. Responsible for inventory and maintenance of departmental
dedicated terminals and for referral and follow-up of various hardware
problems with computer support staff within the College and University
libraries. Works with the Asst. Head of Access Services in the development
and implementation of the training program for new staff and in planning
improvements in circulation services. Serves as Head of Circulation in the
absence of the Asst. Head of Access Services. Maintains supplies and
orders supplies, including printed forms, for Circulation Services as
appropriate. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related job
duties as required.
