Surf Smarter: Scout Toolkit V. 2.0 now available

Net Scout has developed a new version of the Scout Toolkit that will be a
valuable resource to technology managers and end users who don't have
time to track all the developments in network tools each week.

If you have time to read all the print and virtual publications about
network tools, and know everything you need to know about plug-ins,
authoring tools, searching the Internet, Java, gigabit ethernet, and
Internet II, no need to keep reading. The rest of you should read on...!

The Scout Toolkit Version 2.0 provides concise summaries and analysis of
the leading products in each area and why they are the leaders, and the
technologies that are just around the bend, such as:

* the latest developments in browsers, plug-ins, and Web authoring tools
* concise, current overviews of Java, ActiveX, JavaScript and VBScript
* "cheat sheets" for the search engines: the new Sidekicks
* selective guides to networking publications, including which to use when
* the evolution of network computers
* snapshots on the state of tag switching, gigabit ethernet, and ATM
* Internet next generation: Internet II and the NSF's vBNS

Version 2.0 of the toolkit has a completely new interface, designed for
managers and users who want quick, easy-to-find information. Also
provided are links to the latest articles on each topic for those who
want additional details.

To facilitate high levels of traffic, the Net Scout Web site, including
the Toolkit, is mirrored in three locations:

http://www.cs.wisc.edu/scout/toolkit/index.html
http://rs.internic.net/scout/toolkit/index.html
http://wwwscout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/toolkit/index.html

We hope the Scout Toolkit will provide you the same current awareness of
network tools you've come to expect for network resources from the Scout
Report and Net-happenings each week.

If you find the Scout Toolkit V. 2.0 useful or have suggestions on what
we can add to make it more valuable for yourself and your users, let us
know at scout@internic.net.
