NETSL CALL FOR POSTER SESSIONS

The New England Technical Services Librarians (NETSL), a division of the
New England Library Association, seeks poster sessions for its spring 1997
meeting, What Counts: The Value of Technical Services. The meeting will be
held on April 4, 1997, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester,
Mass. The sessions will follow the morning's presentation by Janet Swan
Hill, Associate Director of Technical Services, University Libraries,
University of Colorado at Boulder. An afternoon panel is being confirmed.

A poster session is an informal opportunity to share the results of your
research or innovations with an audience of your peers, through graphic
presentations, handouts, and discussion. It differs from a "breakout
session" in that your audience will likely visit several sessions during the
time period allotted. NETSL will be programming 10-12 sessions, to take
place simultaneously in several rooms for one hour.

We are looking for sessions which address any and all aspects of technical
services economics, from acquisitions and collection development to
cataloging, interlibrary loan and preservation. In keeping with the title
of the meeting, we're interested in presentations which address the values
supported by technical services, as well as topics such as costing
methodologies and workflow management.

We encourage proposals from libraries of all sizes and types. To submit a
proposal, please send a description of your project or research via
electronic mail to the address below. The deadline for proposal submission
is January 17, 1997. Proposals received after that date, or on paper, may
not receive timely consideration. Please provide the name, address, phone
number and email address of the primary contact person. The proposal will be
reviewed by the NETSL Board, and project contacts will be notified of the
results by early February 1997. Specific guidelines for presentation will be
provided at that time; however, initial proposals should assume no technical
(electronic) support. We will be able to offer one free meeting registration
per session. In addition, accepted sessions will have the opportunity to
have materials linked to NETSL's Web page if desired.

We look forward to hearing from you!
