UNIX/SYBASE SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

WLN, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Lacey, WA, is
seeking a UNIX/Sybase Administrator to join its professional
information technology division staff.

The successful applicant will be responsible for WLN's production
server and its UNIX operating system and Sybase database; handle
configuration planning, consulting, software installation and
management; define and write programs and procedures as well as
acquiring and installing software tools; monitor audit logs;
troubleshoot problems advising application developers or end
users; train WLN staff in their use of UNIX and the Sybase
database, performs other duties as requested.

To qualify, applicants should have a minimum of four years
experience administering UNIX systems, preferably IBM AIX and/or
HP/UX and two years experience of SQL database administration,
preferably Sybase.

For 19 years, WLN has provided a broad range of innovative, high-
quality products and services to libraries of all types and sizes
throughout the US and around the world.  These services include a
full-service online MARC bibliographic database (with
acquisitions, cataloging, and interlibrary loan subsystems, and a
linked authority file), a CD-ROM version of the database, as well
as database preparation and authority control (the WLN MARC
Record Service).  WLN is a full-level Internet service provider.

WLN is offering a competitive salary ($40,000-$60,000 annually,
full-time), commensurate with experience and qualifications,

               REFERENCE/BUSINESS LIBRARIAN

     The Mary Couts Burnett Library at Texas Christian University is
    seeking a Reference/Business Librarian. Duties involve serving as liaison
    to the M.J. Neeley School of Business, responsibility for the development
    of the Business Collection, including electronic sources such as CD ROM
    and the Internet, and preparation of seminars and individual instruction
    with particular attention to the needs of the business faculty and students.
    The Reference/Business Librarian assists at the Reference Desk using
    both print and electronic resources and  shares evening, weekend and
    holiday assignments. The person is responsible for providing both general
    and specialized reference services, and actively participates in the
    bibliographic instruction program by preparing printed and online tools to
    assist students and faculty in using electronic and traditional resources.
    The person serves on library and university committees as elected or
    appointed.

     Minimum education and experience include a MLS degree from an
    ALA accredited program; experience and familiarity with library print and
    electronic reference tools; and one to two years of previous professional
    work experience in an academic library, preferably utilizing business
    resources. The person is expected to have excellent speaking and writing
    skills, effectiveness in interpersonal communications, an analytical and
    logical mind set, and an ability to organize and implement programs.

team player to be responsible for management of the Library
Automated and Networked Services Unit.  Specific duties include:
planning, managing and integrating the infrastructure that supports
electronic library information service to the public across all
library systems and subsystems - CD ROM, LAN and integrated

vendor (turn key) information system, day to day information

Position Announcement:  Government Information/Reference Librarian

This position is responsible for providing information and reference
service including nights and weekends.  The information specialist
will manage federal and state documents and will participate in
library instruction, cooperate in collection development in the
Humanities, and share in various departmental projects, programs
and committees.  Reports to the Head of Reference Services and is
a member of the Library Faculty.  This is a dynamic service-
oriented division in an outstanding, fully-automated OhioLINK
library with over 1.6 million volumes.  The University of Toledo
is a state university in Ohio with 21,600 students, offering
associate, bachelor, professional and doctoral degrees in
seven colleges.  The attractive main campus' location in one
of Toledo's finest residential sections provides a suburban
atmosphere, yet is an integral part of the civic, cultural
and commercial life of the community.  The city offers a
renowned Museum of Art, a zoo and an outstanding Metropolitan
Park System.  Its location provides residents with excellent
