Mann Library at Cornell University is seeking a bright, energetic
programmer or systems analyst with the following characteristics:
self-motivated, sense of excellence in service, effective interpersonal
skills, ability to express oneself clearly in both written and verbal form,
willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, and
excited by the prospect of participating in the creation of an
Internet-based digital library. This is an unusually interesting job;
rookies are encouraged to apply.
We seek someone with programming experience with C, Perl, ksh, and/or Java;
a bachelors degree in computer or information science, or 3-5 years
equivalent experience. Experience as a member of a project team a plus;
experience with Unix and systems management a plus.
Mann is the second-largest library in the Cornell University Library
system. It has one of the nation's finest collections of agriculture,
biology, nutrition, and social science materials. Mann has a staff of 52,
including an Information Technology Section of six programmer/systems
analysts and two technical support people. We operate an extensive

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY LIBRARIAN
LECTURER or ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
(ONE POSITION)
Appointment, rank and salary commensurate with qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Exciting opportunity at a 4-year urban liberal
arts college to work with librarians and faculty in all disciplines
in identifying and acquiring appropriate educational technologies
to support and enhance the curriculum, and in training faculty and
students in the application of these new technologies in the
library and outside.
QUALIFICATIONS: Creativity and ability to identify opportunities
and solve problems; experience in teaching; excellent oral and
written communication skills; ability to work closely with
personnel and students. Experience with educational and relevant
computer technologies, including Internet, cd-rom and multi-media
applications.
FOR APPOINTMENT AS LECTURER: Baccalaureate degree, preferably in
Computer/Information Science or Educational Technology, and appropriate work
experience with educational technology in a college environment. ALA-
accredited MLS or equivalent preferred.
SALARY: $27,454 - $45,499 commensurate with experience and
qualifications. Twelve-month position.

or equivalent and second master's required; Ph.D. preferred.
SALARY: $29,931 - $52,213 commensurate with experience and
qualifications. Twelve-month position.

Description of Duties:
The Deputy, reporting to the Network
Administrator, will (1) assist in managing
implementation projects; (2) evaluate database
maintenance and cataloging workflow, practices, costs;
(3) assume primary responsibility for assimilating and
evaluating DRA application modules, particularly as DRA
launches client/server apps; (4) manage evolution of
MOREnet gopher into M.A.I.N. web site.
Required:
ALA-accredited Masters. Min 2 yrs exp supporting
library automation apps in a large public library or
library consortium. Exp conducting requirements
analyses and writing specs for automation-related
services. Min 1 yr exp in cataloging using an
automated system. Exp launching and supporting
Internet client SW and utilities. Excellent electronic
and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated
commitment to customer service.
Highly Desirable:
Hands-on experience in one or more of following:
DRA, DEC OpenVMS and DCL, formal project management,
structured systems analysis, general database
design/publishing/management, TCP/IP.
Compensation will be competitive, with excellent
