ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, SCIENCE & ENGINEERING REFERENCE DIVISION,
Tenure Track (three positions available).
Oklahoma State University is a land grant university with an
enrollment of 26,000 students on four campuses offering 44 doctoral
degree programs. The Library, which contains more than 2.6 million
volumes and documents, is a member of the Association of Research
Libraries and the AMIGOS Bibliographic Council. It is highly
automated with an online catalog (NOTIS) that includes Periodical
Abstracts, Newspaper Abstracts, ABI/INFORM and ISI's Current
Contents. Searched with NOTIS commands these databases have linked
holdings to the Library's collections. Periodical Abstracts and
ABI/INFORM are also linked to UMI's Power Pages providing full
image articles for 800+ titles. The online catalog provides Z39.50
links to several FirstSearch databases and to other library
catalogs. A CD-ROM network provides access to twenty full-text and
bibliographic databases. Public Internet workstations are
available. The Science & Engineering Reference Division includes
the Architecture and Vet Med Libraries and the Map Collection.
RESPONSIBILITIES ALL POSITIONS: Assists in providing reference
service including evening and weekend rotations; participates in
user education programs; and performs collection management and
faculty liaison activities in either biological sciences
disciplines (first position), physics, mathematics and chemistry
(second position), or in areas related to maps, aerial photography,
and GIS (third position). The third position will also supervise
the Map Collection staff (1.0 FTE staff and 2.5 FTE student
assistants) and will coordinate the Library's GIS efforts in
cooperation with other campus groups.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-MLS. Excellent communication
skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse
backgrounds; demonstrated familiarity with print and electronic
government information resources; ability tow work well under
pressure and to meet deadlines; and a record of providing excellent
service. Desired: Three-years post-MLS experience providing STM
reference services in an academic or large public library;
experience using the Internet in providing reference service;
library instruction experience; active participation in state or
national professional organizations; related STM degree. Course
work or experience with GIS (third position).
SALARY: $25,000 to $30,000 for 11 months. Salary and academic
rank dependent upon qualifications and prior experience.

Position Available: Editor of prominent journal for online information
professionals and experts. Responsibility to *plan, execute, and edit
all editorial content* (feature articles and columns) for bi-monthly
print magazine that covers electronic databases in all media - online,
on the Internet, on CD-ROM, etc. Editor will also play an active role
in annual conference planning and organizing.
Applicant must have:
- familiarity with all levels of online/Internet industry
- ability to interpret developments and plan editorial content
accordingly
- ability to meet firm deadlines with complete, full copy

Position requires expert working knowledge of a wide range of
professional online services, databases, and the Internet. The
successful applicant will be skilled in using online database services

CD-ROM, hardware, software industries as they relate to online
research/information applications.
This is an almost-full-time, salaried position with a flexible schedule.

SALZBURG SEMINAR, SALZBURG, AUSTRIA
The Salzburg Seminar, a non-profit educational institution founded in 1947,
located at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria, seeks a creative,
flexible, people-oriented self -starter as Program Resource Coordinator.
The successful candidate will maintain and develop the technology needed to
support workshops and sessions on a wide range of American Studies and
global topics. These services will be provided to the American Studies
Center (ASC) of the Salzburg Seminar as well as to the Salzburg Seminar's
library. Participants at Salzburg Seminar programs are mid-career
professionals and university professors and administrators from around the
world. The Salzburg Seminar has over 17,000 alumni from 130 countries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Creatively develop and maintain the web site for ASC workshops in
coordination with the Seminar's Middlebury, Vermont office.
2. Set up and maintain computer and e-mail systems, including listservs,
used during ASC programs.
3. Record and maintain lecture archives on RealAudio for the ASC.
4. Make presentations at Salzburg Seminar programs on word processing
software, e-mail, listservs, the WWW, and use of multimedia materials.
5. Assist participants at Salzburg Seminar programs with research requests.
6. Assist Seminar staff with system software, including: Delrina Winfax Pro,
Adobe Photoshop and Pagemaker, Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel
and the Seminar database (currently Claris FileMaker Pro, but soon to change).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree in computer and/or library science
HTML experience
Tutorial or teaching experience is a plus
All programs are conducted in English; German is helpful but not a requirement.
