Digital Projects Librarian, Department of Preservation and Conservation,
Cornell University Library
Cornell University Library Department of Preservation and Conservation is
seeking a Digital Projects Librarian to coordinate and provide support for
a range of digital image research, demonstration, and training projects.
These projects are designed to support preservation reformatting, network
access, and on-screen display of research library materials. The Department
of Preservation has pioneered the use of digital image technology to
preserve and make accessible research library materials, and maintains a
digital imaging research facility.
The Digital Projects Librarian will report to the Associate Director of the
Department and is expected to work on various imaging initiatives with
other librarians, archivists, technologists, and teaching faculty.
Qualifications: MLS degree from an accredited institution or other
relevant graduate degree; minimum of 1-2 years work experience in digital
imaging, photography, or electronic text initiatives; evidence of excellent
written and oral communication skills; good organizational and analytical
skills; ability to work well independently and in small groups. Preferred:
additional experience in graphics design, printing, desktop publishing,
grant writing, and familiarity with research library environment.
Salary: $28,500 minimum; one-year appointment with reappointment
anticipated, dependant on funding.

NOTICE OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
UNIVERSITY MUSEUM LIBRARIAN
The University of Pennsylvania Library is seeking and Librarian III/IV to
develop and manage the collections and services of the Library of the
University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and to
serve as the University Library's resource person in anthropology,
archaeology and related areas. The University Museum Librarian reports
to the Director for Public Services.
The University Museum Library serves the information needs of the
University community in the fields of anthropology and archaeology, and
in some related disciplines such as folklore, linguistics, museology and
museum conservation, applied scientific techniques for archaeology, and
non-European art. Special strengths lie in Egyptology, Mayan studies and
Meso-American archaeology, classical archaeology, and the ancient Near
East. The University Museum Library has a collection of 108,000 volumes,
730 current serials and is staffed by two full-time support staff and 2.5
FTE student workers in addition to the Librarian.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Works closely with faculty and the staff of the University Museum
to develop the Library's services and its collections of print and
electronic resources.
Designs operating policies for the Museum Library and oversees
daily operation of this facility.
Supervises full-time staff and provides general direction to
full-time staff in supervising student assistants.
Provides reference and bibliographic assistance to faculty,
staff, students and other patrons of the Museum Library.
Provides orientation and instruction in the use of print and
electronic resources.
Manages the print collections of the Museum Library, reviews
material for preservation and for transfer to the Library's off-site
storage facility.
Manages the Museum Library's gifts and exchange program.
Participates in library-wide committees and task forces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MLS from ALA-accredited library school or equivalent in theory and
practice. Advanced degree in an appropriate subject essential. Good
reading knowledge of appropriate foreign languages essential. Knowledge
of print and electronic resources in appropriate fields. Knowledge of
developing electronic information resources and their library
applications required. Strong desktop computing skills desirable.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated
ability to work effectively, independently and cooperatively with
faculty, students and library staff. Appointment as Librarian III
requires 3-5 years of professional library experience. (Starting salary:
$32,857 - $42,591). Appointment as Librarian IV requires a minimum of 5
years of professional library experience. Starting salary: $36,050 -
$46,814).

Scott Memorial Library of Thomas Jefferson University seeks applications
for the position of Information Services Librarian, II. Under the
leadership of the Director for Public Services and External Relations, the
successful candidate will provide a broad range of information services
including reference, searching, consulting and point-of-use teaching at the
Information Services Desk. This is an excellent opportunity for the
librarian who wishes to provide quality traditional reference service while
working in a hightech environment. The library offers electronic
information services via its WWW site, JEFFLINE, as well as a number of
in-house networked and stand alone CD-ROM databases. Successful candidate
must thrive in dynamic environment, one that is rich in professional
learning opportunities as you work on goals with colleagues who include
information specialists, educators, computer scientists and instructional
designers.
Position requirements: an ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information
Science, training or experience in health sciences informatics, and three
years of professional library experience. Preferred: Experience in
academic biomedical environment. Able to work some evening and weekend

Thomas Jefferson University is an academic health center located in

Academic Information Services and Research (AISR) division which also
