ASCII PACS Review files are now directly available via the Web,
resulting in shorter URLs for Web users. The Web site
is now the complete, official PACS Review archive,
offering both ASCII and HTML files; the Gopher site does not
have HTML files. See http://info.lib.uh.edu/pacsrev.html.
The following URLs for the same ASCII article illustrate this
change.
GOPHER URL
gopher://info.lib.uh.edu:70/00/articles/e-journals/uhlibrary/
pacsreview/v1/n1/stiglema.1n1
WEB URL
http://info.lib.uh.edu/pr/v1/n1/stiglema.1n1
Notice that the last part of the URL "/v1/n1/stiglema.1n1" is the same
in both cases. Replacing "gopher://info.lib.uh.edu:70/00/articles/
e-journals/uhlibrary/pacsreview" with "http://info.lib.uh.edu/pr"
creates the new URL. This may be helpful if you have a PACS Review
citation for an ASCII article that's in the Gopher format.
However, all ASCII file links at the PACS Review Web site have been
changed to the Web URL format. Also, the back volume Web pages have
been recently reorganized so that they have a more convenient table
of contents format. The PACS Review Web archive is searchable.
Consequently, you may find that it is easier to go to the Web site
when looking for an article than to reconstruct its URL.
