I am trying to find a software that will act as a meter for the computers
that our library rents to patrons by the hour. Eventually we will have a
LAN and the problems we are currently facing with tracking time, or
people going over their time and into someone else's will only increase
since we will obviously be increasing the number of computers available
for public use. I have contacted the local Kinko's, and they use Desk
Tracy. However, the local office does not know where it comes from since
they get it from their corporate offices. I did get the name of a
software company from them (Aladdin Systems, Inc.), but this company does
not make Desk Tracy, but most likely makes the installation program used
with Desk Tracy. This has been far more complicated than I thought it
would be. If anyone can offer any advice or suggestions on a particular
package or place where this sort of software can be purhcased I'd
appreciate it. I have called Egghead, Elek Tek, Comp USA, and the other
obvious places without any luck.
