Thanks to all you lovely people again for responding to my question
about what software to use to get "snapshots" of screens.
I should have made it clear that I was interested in capturing CD-ROM
screens on an IBM and not OPAC screens or what to do when using a
Mac.
Anway here is what I have gleaned from the replies:
Shareware programs
Several people recommended programs that redirect printer output to
a file, so that when you press the PrintScreen key you create a file
of the screen contents. Most popular were PRINDIR, PRN2FILE and DMP.
Others recommended screen capture programs which operate as TSR's
and can be called up as and when required. Examples were GEMCAP,
SNIPPER (several votes for this one) and NABIT.
Disk #2247 from the Public Software Library in Houston apparently
has some useful screen capture programs on it.
Commercial Packages
Harvard Graphics was highly recommended. Hotshot Graphics got a vote. Using
Windows 3.1 and pressing Alt-PrintScreen captures the screen for import
to your word processor. SideKick can be used to capture screens. Word5 has a
program called Capture.Com which can do the same when you press Shift-
PrintScreen.
I won't bore you with the ftp sites for the shareware programs, there are
plenty of them and I am sure you can cope better over there than I can over
here. I have acquired PRINDIR, DMP and PRN2FILE. I seem to be having problems
with them under DOS5. Can anyone confirm that this is DOS5 rather than me?
