What is the current alternative to LISA? Or are conferences just no longer
really a thing? I've been out of the field for a decade, but have fond
memories of meeting like-minded people at LISA, both new people and people
I had previously only known from online collaboration.

To date myself: I was at the first automated sysadmin LISA subconference,
back when a lot of people thought it wouldn't catch on. I think maybe 35
people. Cfengine vs Puppet vs Bcfg2 vs a lot of others that even then were
niche.

If you want to walk down memory lane in that field you can look at
historical versions of this. Don't know how up to date it is now, but it
was def up to date then.
