Where could I get a copy of Perl? What does it stand for (all the
other UNIX utilities stand for something, but this might be
   different...)

It's ftp-able under prep.ai.mit.edu:/pun/gnu, as the GNU project
distributes it. It should also be uucp-able from uunet (ask
info@uunet.uu.net for details, they have a 900 number for
non-subscribers to use).

You can also get it from FSF on tape. ask gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu for
details.
