			ANNOUNCING THE FIRST MEETING OF

				BACK BAY LISA
The New England Local System Administration Forum

Back Bay LISA, or BB LISA for short, has been created to address
the needs of the local New England community of System
	Administrators.

The group is planning regular, monthly meetings which will consist
of a speaker, product demonstrations, general discussions, or
other activities of widespread interest. If there is something
you would like to talk about, or hear discussed, please let us
	know!

There are currently no dues, and everyone is invited to come
along. The group will meet on the last Wednesday of every month,
except December, at a location in the Greater Boston area.

	The first meeting is:

	Date: Wednesday, July 29, 1992
	Time: 7:00pm
At: Bolt Beranek & Newman (BBN)
			150 Cambridge Park Drive
(go down the street from Alewife T station,
meet inside at the 150 Cambridge Park Cafe,
			on the 1st floor)

We will start with a brief introduction and overview of the
group. We also want to hear your ideas on where we should be
	going.

After that, we will have Back Bay Lisa's first speaker:

Topic: Network and User Administration at MIT Athena
	Speaker:	Tom Coppeto
			MIT Network Operations Group

Tom works in the group resonsible for the oepration of the MIT
campus network and network management development. Most of the
4,000 hosts speak IP, with roughly a third running the "Athena
environment." There are also a growing number of AppleTalk
	hosts.

Tom will talk about some aspects of the MIT network and system
management, including the SNMP-based infrastructure and "network
operations center". He will also talk about MOIRA, the database
system used to centrally manage many of the systems and the 12,000
	Athena users.
