hi,

I recently joined the bblisa mailing list and noticed that Metrix was mentioned. For those of you who may be interested, Metrix makes high performance network monitoring and analysis software for ethernet, token ring, and FDDI networks. The NetMetrix toolset runs on a Unix platform, giving it and enormous power advantage over DOS-based tools.

The tools include a Protocol Analyzer, Load Monitor, NFS Monitor, Traffic Generator and recently announced Internetwork Monitor. Full 7-layer decodes are available for all major protocol families. The Load Monitor and NFS Monitor display traffic and statistics graphically. A unique ZOOM feature allows extensive correlation of these statistics. The Traffic Generator can simulate load and test protocol implementations. With the Internetwork Monitor you can see traffic patterns at every layer of the OSI stack.

A floating license lets you monitor any segment on the internet and view the results anywhere else on any X display station. The latest version is also RMON compliant. Cost is $1995 per tool.
