In another note (which may or may not have made the Newton BBS), I suggested
that a Duo-type configuration with a more standard old fashioned computer that
would have my keyboard, my scanner, my big hard drive, etc. etc. might be a
reasonable compromise. It would greatly add to the cost, but also greatly add
to the functionality. Also, it could use a lot of existing technology (i.e.
avoid miniature gigantic $$$ hard drives, for example).
Simple tech question: How soon are the gigabyte size non-volatile memory
credit cards that I heard about in MacWeek for $35 going to be a reality. Is
this what you guys are talking about. MacWeek predicted they'd be a commercial
reality by 1994. Is this vaporhardware or reality. That might solve a lot of
the storage and processing problem (they said these cards would be only
slightly slower than present day RAM).
One of the reasons I haven't gotten a Wizard or Boss is that I need a real
keyboard for some of what I do. I also would like a real scanner and lots of
memory. Bear with me, if my other notes were public - I intended them only to
go the recipients; I am new to this Internet communication.

Well If that is the case.. PCMIA is not cheap, Perhaps Newton should
think of a modified DCC or MiniDisk as a recording medium... both can
be battery powered and dont use much electricity when being read.. but
writing.. Well you have a size problem and you need LOTS of space...
Mebby it should have a nice 80 meg internal HD.. what do you think
and BTW Wheres my newton.. wasnt it supposed to be released by now..
they already have pictures in magazines about it
