Regarding Jeff Nanis' questions about handwriting recognition and storage:

Judging from the demonstrations, Newton appears to wait for a significant
pause in the user's writing before translating. That pause is when you lift
the pen from the screen to change lines or, when sketching, to move to a
different part of the drawing. I have to believe that the device can buffer
only a limited amount of untranslated ink (when in translation mode), and if
I were guessing, which I am, I'd say it was about three or four words.

How much can it store? That will depend upon the built-in RAM and how large
a flash RAM card you install in the PCMCIA slot. Remember, Newton may cost
less than a thousand bucks, but the add-ons can add up!
