Actually, the Associate is not as wide-ranging at the Newton recognizers.
Information is recognized within Perspective, but not within the PenPoint
OS. Any application can leverage off the OS's object-orientation to, say,
index information in various documents. In Newton, anytime you enter the
name Jane, it would be linked to other information about Jane -- at least,
that's the propoganda these days. If true, the Newt and off-shoots can
provide some pretty effective information management capabilities, which is
more than what people currently associate with taking notes.
