I'm still in recovery mode from my trip to the west coast. I was
planning on writing a Newton update, which I will still do.

But, for the impatient, here's what I learned:

Newton Notepad will ship sometime during the 2nd quarter. That's the
April-May-June time frame. There wasn't much of a Newton presence at
MacWorld--most of the Newton team was at the Consumer Electronics Show
in Las Vegas, which ran concurrently with MacWorld.

Apple was giving a Newton technology update at CES. I did manage to
speak to two key members of the Newton team. The bottom line: Newton
will deliver the goods as promised.

Q: Is Newton a business or consumer electronics device?
A: Yes.

Apple will target the business market with this first one, but knows
that all kinds of early adopters will be buying Newtons. Since they are
developing a family of products, there will be Newton-based products
that are aimed at consumers.

In a day or so, I'll write a detailed Newton update and post it to the
list.
