[Note: if you know someone with a brand new 1.03 Newton and you only
have a 1.02 Newton...]
It worked for me to, I backed up my internal memory to my flash RAM,
pulled the card, "restored" from the 1.03 backup.
Well, actually, it did not work first try. I got the note on my note
pad welcoming me to 1.03, but the patch level was still 1.02. I tried
again. This time I did something different. Instead of waiting until
the Newton told me I could restart, I waited another 20- or 30-seconds
until the Mac thought it had finished too. This time I was at 1.03.
Finally, I restored from my flash card and everything seems great, the
only evidence I did anything is that the OS is at 1.03 and I have not
done any resets since or lost time on the clock--but it will be a few
days before I really believe it.
Conclusion: Restoring does not put things back to backup state, newer
OS patches will win. Good news: Newer pathes will win. Bad news: It
becomes very difficult to backout an unpleasant new patch.
