I called "Apple Sauce"tm(1-800-SOS-APPL) today with my unique (so far)
sound problem (not getting anything other than "bell" to work). He said
(officially) that any new software version is speculation and nothing is
decided yet. As far as my solution, they entered a service call, which
means my Newton goes back to Apple in a "specially Fed-exed" shipping box
and will be returned back to me in 3 business days. Any bets if I will get
a new version of Newton software in the process??

My recognizer has gotten so wedged that even a reset won't do much, if
anything. I called SOS-APPL yesterday and the support person suggested that
the new ROM version, 1.03, should fix all of my problems. (Well, I doubt that,
'cuz I ain't posted my (long) bug and suggestion lists 'cuz it's all stuck in
my Newt and I'm still waiting on the "back-ordered" Window Connection Kit
Pro... ;-) The status of 1.03 was reported as "done", but they are "working on
the deployment strategy". I was asked to call back at the early next week to
find out how to get my update.
