I believe that you're right -- I don't think that there's a way to move
software out of a MessagePad, though an Apple person said that Apple is
working on a utility to move data between PCMCIA cards, which I would
*guess* would also be able to move data between RAM and a card.
I was a little stunned as well, when I couldn't figure out a way to "beam"
an application, certainly the Newton ought to be able to.
It shouldn't be too hard to write a program to beam data between Newtons --
the functions are all there for moving data via beam or ADSP (LocalTalk),
so it's a matter of actually finding the application's components to send
them, and catching them at the other end. While I say it shouldn't be
hard, it just might be, and I bet Apple would be pretty upset if it didn't
respect the various protection bits. Of course, that Poker game shouldn't
be protected...
