Hi,
I'm Der Humormeister with the annual "all about humor@mit" emailing...
humor@mit was created in about 1988 when my alias file began to get
unreasonably large. My general procedure is not to repeat a message until
at least a calendar year has gone by, so that things don't get too repetitive.
To that end, I ask that everyone pretty please send their submissions to
abennett@mit.edu and I'll re-route them accordingly. When I *do* resend them,
my general policy is to retain the oldest sending address and date as well
as the newest. The invervening addresses/dates are left to whimsy. If you
would rather not be known as the originator of a messaage, just say so and I'll
take your name off.
I'll send practically anything, and have been known to offend just about
everyone eventually. If you or your world view feels left out - don't worry,
I'll get to you eventually... :)
If you want an old humor posting that made the rounds; sorry. I don't have the
storage space, so I delete most of them as soon as they're sent. As I recall,
someone made an archive/web page. If whomever did that wants to post the URL
to the list, that would be great.
A few no-no's: humor@mit.edu is *not* for discussion or requests! This list
can suck up a lot of bandwidth from time to time, and the membership can get
pretty large sometimes. The list isn't moderated only because I'm too lazy to
move it to a listmaint server. Maybe one of these days...
Also, I am not adverse to sending copyrighted material, *provided* the
copyright notice is and/or author is still attached (that way no one can claim
plagurism).
FINALLY: Sorry for the recent flood of old postings - it's a combination of
others who were trying to be helpful and a mailer hiccup somewhere on the MIT
campus. I'm seeing stuff I sent out in July coming back to haunt me.
And now back to our regularly scheduled humor -
-Drew
P.S. I reserve the right to break any of my rules, 'cause it's my list so
there. nyah. :P :)
