Sounds good to me.
Following the application of your patch I see the error that follows
(after a reconfigure, make clean, and in the make). If you want access to
a recent 4.0 machine, I could set up an account for you on one of my
workstations. I'm about to move from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC, so
that might take a couple of days, though.
