Ok. Have had the same two symptoms today - one with making a symlink in a
directory and having it not show up and the other with the afs access
locking up.
For the symlink, I was just linking: /home/local/adm/apache/websrch/logs to
./logs
in an AFS directory.
In the case of the lockup, when I turned on debugging, it looks like it was
spewing hundred of these to syslogs. Eventually it stopped (after I killed
the process that was trying to access the directory.)
There were two different sequences of debug entries getting sent to the
logs. A whole bunch of:
