I should apologize for replying before reading the supplied link,

Deprecating single DES seems like a worthy cause.
Maybe I should prod local sysadmin about the kerberos 5 migration;
last time I asked, kalog was the only supported means of obtaining afs
tickets (probably because all other autentication is non-kerberos).
