The references to "second" and "third" patches make me think I missed a patch
somewhere along the way. I checked the mailing list archives fairly carefully,
but I only see one patch related to hangs with arla-0.12.
I'm running arla-0.12 on a Linux 2.1.122 quad PPro SMP box (a small patch to
configure.in got things to this point). I've tried to stress the filesystem and
the box itself by compiling and recompiling a large project from source
scattered throughout AFS. After a half hour of this, the machine hangs. It
responds to pings, but that's about it. If I repeat the exercise, but take
source from an NFS mounted disk, things seem OK. Because of the time it takes
to see a problem, and because of the way in which it hangs, I'm not sure of the
best way to gather better diagnostic info. Advice welcome.
I there are other patches for arla-0.12 that are thought to address this
problem, I'd love to get my hands on them!
Dave
PS: This is the one patch I have seen -
