I'm using linux 2.0.33 on a x86. Arla .9 and
krb4-0.9.9. The problem is this, when I type
afslog cohentl@clarkson.edu
I get
afslog: Failed getting tokens for cell cohentl@clarkson.edu in realm
(local realm).
it never prompts me for a password.. i can see my directory
(/afs/clarkson.edu/users/c/o/cohentl), but I can't get any
authentication.. what am I doing wrong?
...

I think normally you should (1) do 'kinit cohentl', and then
(2) 'afslog'. If you do a 'klist' after each one, you should see
a krbtgt ticket alone after the first, and then also an afs
ticket after the second.
On some machines with approximately the same software as you, I
find the command 'afslog' on its own fails, but that 'afslog cellname'
succeeds.
Incidentally, has anyone with similar combination of software
(Intel Linux 2.0.34 and 2.0.35, arla 0.9, krb4 0.9.9) had problems
with arla and the /afs mount hanging completely after some time?
Note that these are not SMP machines, just 486's, Pentiums, and P-IIs.
