This is one of my favorite places to dine in the entire state. I've always heard that larger menus mean that the food being served is not fresh and if... Found this place on my first trip out to Ames, Iowa via yelp. Was NOT disappointed in the least. Showed up for dinner on my first night in from California... The truffle fries are an absolute MUST here. I had a light dinner and just had a salad for dinner but the service was excellent. Our server was really on... Still yeasty, after all these years . . .....My wife frequented Great Plains when she was an Iowa State student and with fingers crossed we stopped for lunch... Have been here 8 or so times traveling thru Ames. Great food, good Irish selection with something for most. Priced correct, beers same... EXcellent beer... Our family's favorite spot for pizza!
