First, this is the wrong list for this sort of question.  The sipbv6  
list is for people taking part in SIPB's 6bone experimental IPv6  
networking setup at MIT; even if you're doing so, it would have  
nothing to do with your off-campus webmail account.

I think http://web.mit.edu/answers/mail/mail_spam.html should answer  
your question.
