While it appears that the network group has lost some of their shyness
on cisco software, and in fact the software running on the MITnet
backbone routers was less than 2 months old at the time they were
booted,

I don't think it's terribly likely that IPv6 code would run on
the MITnet backbone in the near future.
Generally in the past MITnet routers have been observed to be running
software that's multiple years old...
