APDec. 19: Actor Tom Cruise attends the U.S. premiere of 'Mission: Impossible
- Ghost Protocol' at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York.LOS ANGELES
Tom Cruise's latest mission has won a holiday weekend that's shaping up
with some silent nights at movie theaters as business continues to lag.Studio
estimates Sunday placed Cruise's "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" a solid No.
1 with $26.5 million domestically over its first weekend in full release.
The movie raised its total to $59 million since it started a
week earlier in huge-screen cinemas and expanded nationwide last Wednesday, and distributor
Paramount estimated that revenues will reach $72.7 million by Monday.Cruise's fourth "Mission"
flick was a bright spot over a Christmas weekend filled with so-so
tidings for Hollywood, whose usually busy holiday stretch since Thanksgiving has been
a bust.Generally well-reviewed movies from Steven Spielberg ("The Adventures of Tintin"), David

MOSCOW Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Wednesday rejected calls to hold
talks with opposition leaders who have drawn tens of thousands of Russians
to protest rallies to demand free elections and an end to his
12-year rule. The opposition leaders "do not have a common platform, so there
is nobody to talk to," Putin told journalists from state news agencies.Organizers
of the Moscow demonstrations include prominent public figures and representatives of various
opposition groups. But they have passed joint resolutions with a list of
concrete demands, including a rerun of the fraud-tainted Dec. 4 parliamentary election,
the resignation of the Central Election Commission chief and the removal of
barriers that have prevented opposition parties from taking part in elections.Putin on
Tuesday firmly rejected the demands for a rerun of the election. The
government has promised to ease rules for opposition candidates.Putin, who served as
president in 2000-2008, is now seek

Phase 4 FilmsDemi Moore looked like she was back in action during
a mother-daughter Christmas vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands.Though the actress
has kept a very low profile since her split with estranged husband
Ashton Kutcher, she seemed to shake off any malaise from her impending
divorce with some holiday booty-shakin' in the Caribbean. The "Margin Call" star and
svelte mother of three, 49, was spotted with her daughter, Rumer Willis,
at the uber-private Parrot Cay resort, where the two shared a rocking
Christmas Eve at a poolside bar and Moore "danced up a storm."Spies
said that when Rumer took over DJing duties, Moore began to boogie.Follow
FOX411 on Twitter."Demi was dancing seductively for all the guys [at the
bar] and they were going nuts," one spy said. Another added, "Demi
could do 'The Wiggles' dance and still look hot."The slinky moves even
earned the raven-haired beauty the nickname "Single Hot Demi" or, simply, "SHD,"
from other hotel gues

ANNAPOLIS, Md. The number of reported sexual assaults at the nation's
three major military academies rose overall in the latest academic year from
one year earlier, according to a report released Tuesday by the Pentagon. The
Defense Department's "Annual Report on Sexual Harassment and Violence at the Military
Service Academies" for academic year 2010-2011 found there were 65 reports of
sexual assault involving cadets and midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy, the
U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. That was up
from 41 reports of sexual assaults in the prior academic year."This is
a leadership issue, first and foremost, so I also expect us to
lead with integrity and with energy to eliminate sexual assault and harassment
from our culture," Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in a statement. "I'm
confident the steps we are taking are the right ones, but we
must continue to improve."The Pentagon said it could not conclusively identify the
