has said he wouldn't rule it out automatically.Sen. Patty Murray, chairwoman
of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, praised Nelson for being a "loyal
public servant to the people of Nebraska."She also said she's expecting Republicans
will have "a very divisive primary in the state, which will provide
an opportunity for Democrats to remain competitive" in the state.Dec. 27, 2011:

An Italian oil tanker was hijacked close to the coast of Oman
early Tuesday morning in an area where Somali pirates are known to
operate, AFP reported. The ship, which is owned by Marnavi, was reportedly carrying
18 people. The Italian navy was informed of the incident and the
company has been in touch with the foreign ministry, the report said. There
were six Italians, five Ukrainians and seven Indians onboard when the ship
came under attack in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The ship was
carrying a cargo of caustic soda to the Mediterranean. On Dec. 21, another
Italian oil tanker was freed after being in pirate captivity for more
than 10 months after a ransom was paid, the report said.Ransoms for
tankers often reach into the millions of dollars. The long coastline of
war-ravaged Somalia provides a perfect haven for pirate gangs preying on shipping
off the East African coast. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Post, "Ben's retirement is a huge loss for Nebraska. I am very
sad he's leaving. That is as far as I am going (right
now)."Democrats acknowledged the party will face a steep uphill battle to hold
on to Nelson's seat, but pointed to a crowded Republican primary field
with no obvious front-runner. The contenders include Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning,
state Treasurer Don Stenberg, state Sen. Deb Fischer, and investment adviser Pat
Flynn."This virtually guarantees a Republican victory in 2012," said University of Nebraska
Lincoln political scientist Mike Wagner. "There's almost no scenario in which a
Democrat can win -- especially at this late stage."National Republican party leaders
also have encouraged Gov. Dave Heineman to join the race, but Heineman
has said it would take a lot to persuade him to run.The
Senate's Democratic campaign chairman, Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, said she expected
that Republicans would "have their hands full with a very divi

Meryl Streep as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the film
"The Iron Lady." (Reuters)Margaret Thatcher ran Downing Street with an iron fist
from 1979 to 1990. Vilified by her liberal opponents, Great Britains first
and only female prime minister was the patron saint of the conservative
movement. But Hollywoods new film about the iconic leader The Iron Lady,
starring Meryl Streep has viewers arguing about more than just politics.
Some people who were close to Thatcher say the film should is
too focused on Thatchers recent decline.Thatcher suffered series of strokes over a
decade ago and has not made a public appearance in some time.
She did not attend the Royal Wedding last spring, and her memory
loss has reportedly progressed to such an extent that the small group
of conservatives who maintained her office and continued to champion her beliefs
decided to disband earlier this year. Many of them say they are not
happy with the new movie."She was

in clear language -- a kind of Consumer Reports approach -- so
that patients and doctors can easily draw on them to make decisions."Our
goal, our hope, is that over time, by involving patients in research,
two things will happen," said Selby. "One is that we will start
asking questions in a more practical fashion, so the results would speak
more consistently to questions that patients want to know the answers to.
And two is that, by our example of involving patients in the
research, trust will rise." He expects to unveil the institute's proposed research
agenda in the next few weeks.Former Medicare administrator Gail Wilensky says that
agenda should focus on high-cost procedures and drugs on which the medical
community has not developed a consensus, and which have widely different patterns
of use around the country. A Republican, Wilensky believes opposition to the
