Tennessee zinc mine have been rescued after a fire started on a
drill rig.Tim Wilder, of the Jefferson County EMA, said the three were
helped out of the mine by a rescue team after about three

PYONGYANG, North Korea North Korea's power brokers declared Kim Jong Un
the supreme leader at a massive public memorial for his father Kim
Jong Il, cementing the Kim family's hold on power for another generation. The
son, dubbed North Korea's Great Successor, stood with his head bowed and
somber in a dark overcoat on a balcony at the Grand People's
Study House overlooking Kim Il Sung Square and watched the memorial that
doubled as a show of support for his burgeoning role as leader. The

overlooking a sea of humanity gathered below him in Pyongyang's main square,
Kim Jong Un was flanked by top party and military officials, including
Kim Jong Il's younger sister, Kim Kyong Hui, and her husband Jang
Song Thaek, who are expected to serve as mentors of their

a letter to Mayor Michael Bloomberg that they're disturbed at his response
to a series of stories by The Associated Press detailing New York
Police Department intelligence-gathering programs that monitored Muslim groups, businesses and houses of
worship.Bloomberg has defended the NYPD, saying last week it doesn't take religion
into account in its policing.Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser acknowledged Wednesday that about
a dozen people turned down the breakfast invitation. But he said "a
couple dozen" more said they plan to attend. The letter to Bloomberg contained
the names of several dozen Muslim leaders and organizations and said they
believe such police measures "threaten the rights of all Americans, and deepen
