Biden. At a joint news conference Thursday, Obama and Pena Nieto carefully
sidestepped potential trouble spots. Obama steered clear of commenting on
Pena Nieto's decision to end the broad access that U.S. security agencies
have had in Mexico to combat drug trafficking, a decision that has
alarmed some U.S. officials."President Pena Nieto and his team are organizing
a vision about how they can most efficiently and effectively address these
issues," Obama said. "And we will interact with them in ways that
are appropriate, respecting that ultimately Mexico has to deal with its
problems internally and we have to deal with ours as well."For his
part, Pena Nieto declined to get drawn into the current immigration debate
in Washington, a top priority for Obama but one that is at
a delicate stage in Congress. Asked to comment on the debate, the
Mexican president merely said the Mexican government acknowledged the efforts
under way in Congress."Mexico understands that this is a domestic affair
for the U.S. and we wish you the best push that you're
giving to immigration," he said.Likewise, he demurred when asked to react
to the failure in the U.S. Senate to pass gun control legislation,
including an expanded background check for firearms buyers, even though
many guns obtained illegally in the U.S. make their way into the
hands of drug dealers in Mexico. He said he agreed with Obama's campaign
to stem gun violence, but added: "This is a domestic i
A car thief's weakness for women became his downfall when police in
India nabbed him in a Facebook trap.Police in Vastrapur, India had been
tracking 24-year-old Bheemsingh Bhati for a year for stealing several vehicles,
but he had so far escaped authorities, according to the Times of
India. When a detective found the suspect on Facebook, he noticed that most
of his friends were women. Police created a fake profile with a
photo of an attractive woman to lure him into a meeting. The trick
worked and Bhati began communicating with the decoy.Gradually, Bhati became
so obsessed with the persona that he kept on requesting to meet
'her' in person," a police official told the Times.Bhati showed up for
the date in April wearing flashy clothes and began looking for the
object of his affection, but he was met by police instead. Officers
escorted him into a police van and took him into custody. He has
confessed to stealing cars from at least five towns. Click for more

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas suggested at a forum last month that
President Obama was helped in his historic 2008 bid by getting the
approval of the "elites and the media" for saying "the prescribed things."Thomas
made the comments during a CSPAN interview a month ago.Asked if he
thought he'd see a black president in his lifetime, Thomas -- who
is black, and a conservative -- said he did.But he said the
first black president would have to meet certain tests."The thing that I
always knew is that it would have to be a black president
who was approved by the elites and the media because anybody they
didn't agree with, they would take apart," he said. "And that will
happen with virtually -- you pick your person, any black person who
says something that is not the prescribed things that they expect from
a black person will be picked apart. ... So, I always assumed
it would be somebody the media had to agree with."Thomas also revealed
that he's never had an in-depth conversation with Obama, and has only
interacted with him "in passing."
ts offered an amendment that declared climate
change to be caused by humans. The amendment said: "Congress accepts the
scientific findings of the Environmental Protection Agency that climate
changes is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant
risks for public health and welfare."That amendment failed, on a 184-240
vote -- which is where the 240 number came from in the
OFA ad.But three of those no votes were Democrats. And not all
of the Republicans who voted against the amendment are on record saying
climate change is a sham. Republicans, rather, complained at the time that
the amendment was not pertinent to the underlying bill.So where does the
word "hoax" come from? There appear to be a couple instances. One, according
to the Post, was from a Democrat, Rep. Henry Waxman, who said
at the time that the Republican bill's premise was "that climate change
is a hoax."The other was a quote from Republican Georgia Rep. Paul
Broun, nestled into the Obama group's video right after the vote factoid.
Broun said: "The idea of human-induced global climate change is one of
the greatest hoaxes perpetrated out of the scientific community. It is a
hoax."But as FactCheck.org pointed out, that quote was from 2009, two years
earlier.FactCheck.org also said that Broun and other Republicans who completely
deny a link to human activity are "off base." But the group
noted there is a diversity of opinion among the GOP caucus on
