A Kentucky Democratic operative claimed Thursday that two leaders with a
local liberal group were the ones who secretly recorded a February strategy
session with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and his aides. The
allegation comes after McConnell claimed his office was bugged, following
the publication in Mother Jones magazine of the recorded meeting -- where
aides could be heard bashing then-potential challenger Ashley Judd.Jacob
Conway, who is with the Jefferson County Democratic Party, told Fox News
that two leaders with the group Progress Kentucky told him at the
time that they recorded the session. He said it wasn't a "Nixonian bugging,"
but could have been recorded with an iPhone.Conway told Fox News they
recorded the meeting from the hallway, and later told him about it."I
don't know why they were at the grand opening of his campaign
office. ... They overheard the conversation going on," he said. "To me
it was an extremely tacky conversation ... but it was a private
conversation nonetheless."Conway did not specifically say the operatives
gave the tape to Mother Jones, but said: "They told me they
were there. They told me they were in the hallway. They have
a recording. So you know, you can draw your own conclusions."Conway, who
said he used to be friends with the two individuals -- Shawn
Reilly and Curtis Morrison -- said he came forward because he didn't
want the situation tarnishing the Democratic Party. At the national le
North Korea has positioned two mobile missile launchers on the country's
east coast, senior Pentagon officials tell Fox News -- movement that comes
as Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warned North Korea is "skating very close
to a dangerous line."The senior Pentagon official told Fox News that a
test of the Musudan missiles could occur "at any time." If the
North Koreans proceed, it would be the first mobile test of this
specific intermediate-range missile, which has a range of 2,500 miles.South
Korea has deployed three naval destroyers, an early warning surveillance
aircraft and a land-based radar system, a Defense Ministry official said
in Seoul, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with department rules.Japan
has deployed PAC-3 missile interceptors in key locations around Tokyo, while
the South Korean and U.S. militaries raised their level of surveillance.Amid
the tensions, people in North Korea's capital Pyongyang began celebrating
a series of April holidays, including the first anniversary Thursday of
their leader's appointment as head of the ruling Worker's Party. The fact
that this would be their first test is giving military leaders an
added layer of uncertainty about the potential for an unintended mistake.Separately,
Hagel and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey addressed the North
Korean crisis during a press briefing Wednesday afternoon. They said America
and its allies want to ratchet down the tensions but Kim Jong

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers
voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background
checks and new penalties for gun trafficking.Senate Democrats, joined by
16 Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by GOP senators
opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate,
but the Senate will eventually begin votes on amendments -- one of
which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote. The White
House called Thursday's tally an "important" but "early milestone," as both
sides of the issue prepare for a grueling debate -- one that
is being waged in Washington and on the airwaves. The amendment likely
to be at the front of the line is one from Sens.
Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Pat Toomey, R-Pa., which would scale back the
call for universal background checks. The plan would expand checks to gun-show
and Internet sales, but exempt certain personal transactions. The National
Rifle Association and other gun-rights supporters voiced concern about the
new proposal, saying it still goes too far. But the plan, offered
by two lawmakers who are at the conservative end of their respective
parties, could help ease opposition ahead of a final vote. The legislation
required at least 60 votes to advance Thursday. If the bill ultimately passes
the Senate, it would still have to pass the Republican-dominated House."The

made their online debut in 2009. How the coins are created, how
the transactions are authenticated and how the whole system manages to power
forward with no central bank, no financial regulator and a user base
of wily hackers all comes down to computing power and savoir faire.Or,
as Nicholas Colas, chief market strategist for the ConvergEx Group, describes
it: "genius on so many levels."The linchpin of the system is a
network of "miners" -- high-end computer users who supply the Bitcoin network
with the processing power needed to maintain a transparent, running tally
of all transactions. The tally is one of the most important ways
in which the system prevents fraud, and the miners are rewarded for
supporting the system with an occasional helping of brand-new bitcoins. Those
bitcoins have become a dangerously hot commodity in the past few days.Rising
from roughly $13 at the beginning of the year, the price of
a single bitcoin blasted through the $100 barrier last week, according to
Mt. Gox, a site where users can swap bitcoins for more traditional
currencies. On Tuesday, the price of a single bitcoin had topped $200. On
Wednesday, it hit $266 before a flash crash dragged it back down
to just over $100. By Thursday, bitcoins were trading for around $150.The
rebel currency may seem unstable, but then so do some of its
more traditional counterparts. Some say Bitcoin got
