WASHINGTON In a rare move, House Republicans pulled their own health
care bill from the floor Wednesday after failing to secure enough votes
to ensure its passage. The bill offered a lifeline to a main feature
of President Obamas health care overhaul - affordable coverage for people
with pre-existing medical conditions -- after it ran into strong opposition
from both conservatives and Democrats. The legislation is a departure from
past GOP efforts to kill the Affordable Health Care Act outright, and
faced a White House veto threat.Democrats are against it because it would
bail out the struggling program to help those with pre-existing conditions
get insurance by raiding a disease prevention provision the administration
says is essential.Conservative groups also urged Republicans to vote against
it, saying it perpetuated the federal role in health care. Some said
they felt the bill embraced Obamacare. The measure was a pet project of
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia whose office pledged to keep
working on the bill.We had positive conversations today and made good progress,
Cantor spokesman Doug Heye told Fox News later in the day. We
remain focused on stopping the biggest entitlement expansion in a generation.House
Majority Whip Kevin McCarthys office said they had made a lot of
solid progress. There's still work to do and with Members leaving town for
the Bush Library dedication in Texas, we'll continue the conversations after

rt says Ferrelle told officers that
when he passed back by the house on his return trip later
in the day, Currington got in his own boat with a camera
and chased Ferrelle to where he docks his tour boat. Currington was
cursing and threatening to "(expletive) Mr. Ferrelle up," the police report
said."If I hadn't gotten into my slip fast enough, I believe he
would have run me over," Ferrelle told police, according to the incident
report.A woman saying she was the caretaker of an elderly man sharing
the same address as Currington also called police to complain a passing
boat nearly knocked the man off the home's dock and into the
water. The police report said the woman was talking about the events
that led to Currington chasing after the tour boat."Well what is it
we can do to keep people from coming up on our docks
or swamping our docks?" said the woman, identified in the police report
as Julie Muscleman.Ferrelle called police again the next day saying he feared
for his life because he had another tour scheduled and would have
to pass by Currington's property again after being threatened. The incident
report said police agreed to have a patrol boat nearby when Ferrelle
passed the home. The tour boat captain told police he had no idea
why Currington was so angry. Ferrelle did not return phone messages left
Wednesday and Thursday by The Associated Press.Currington is a native of
the Georgia coast. His hits include "Pretty Good At Drinkin'

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">All five living past and present U.S. presidents gathered in Dallas for
the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum Thursday,
an event that saw the men share a rare bond that transcends
partisan differences."There was a time in my life when I wasn't likely
to be found at a library, much less found one," Bush quipped,
before thanking his predecessors and successor for the "kind words" and
the "examples you set."Bush thanked his mother Barbara Bush for teaching
him to live life to the fullest, and his father, the 41st
president, for "teaching me how to be a president ... and how
to be a man."- President Obama on President Bush"Forty-one, it is awesome
that you are here today," he said, drawing a smile from his
88-year-old father, who has battled health problems in recent months.Earlier,
President Obama noted that the exclusive group of current and former presidents
is often viewed as a club, but he said it is "more
of a support group.""No matter how much you think you're ready to
assume the office of the president, its impossible to understand the nature
of the job until its yours," Obama said. "The first thing I
found in that desk was a letter from George. He knew that
I would come to learn what he had learned. That being president
is a humbling job."We know President Bush the man," Obama said. "To
know the man is to like the man. Because hes comfortable in
his own skin. He knows who he is. He doesnt put on

HELSINKI Officials in a liberal Stockholm suburb that discourages gender
stereotypes have decided to open a gender-neutral changing room in a local
high school to avoid students being classified as male or female.Patrik
Biverstedt, headmaster of the Soedra Latins upper secondary school, says
they decided on the cubicle where one person can change at a
time after students proposed it last year. It will be ready by
May 6.Students' union member Camille Trombetti says the changing room is
not only "for transsexual" students but any student who wants privacy when
changing for school activities.Soedra Latins is in the same affluent Sodermalm
district where children at the Egalia preschool are encouraged to avoid
using "him" and "her" and to call others "friends" instead of girls
or boys.
