GUATEMALA CITY Judges presiding over the landmark genocide trial of a
former dictator have asked the Constitutional Court to decide if it should
continue.Tribunal president Yasmin Barrios says judges overseeing the trial
won't accept another judge's ruling that the case should start over,
at a point before charges were filed against Efrain Rios Montt.
The Constitutional Court has 10 days to rule on the dispute.The trial
had been nearing closing arguments and U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky said
Friday that the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay is
concerned over the suspensin.Nesirky says it "is a blow to the numerous
victims of the atrocities committed during Guatemala's civil war."Rios Montt
is accused in the killing of 1,771 indigenous people after taking power
in a 1982 coup.

was already popular with his colleagues in the campus police department,
as well as with students, often joining them on hiking and skiing
trips.Authorities say the 26-year-old Collier was shot and killed by the
Boston Marathon bombing suspects.MIT says Collier was a Wilmington native
and Somerville resident who had worked at MIT since January 2012. Before
that, he was a civilian employee of the Somerville Police Department.MIT
Chief John DiFava says Collier was a dedicated officer, liked by his
colleagues and the MIT community.The MIT Police serve all of us at
the Institute with great dignity, honor and dedication, Israel Ruiz, MITs
executive vice president and treasurer, said in a statement.Everyone here
those who knew Officer Collier, and those who did not
are devastated by the events that transpired on our campus last night.
We will never forget the seriousness with which he took his role
protecting MIT and those of us who consider it home.Reif says Collier's
loss is "deeply painful."Collier was found shot several times in his vehicle

and Pakistan to the Middle East, has been awarded the 2013 Ortega
y Gasset award by Spain's leading newspaper El Pais.In a statement released
Friday, the newspaper said Morenatti, 44, captures "terrible emotion" in
his photograph taken in the northeastern city of Barcelona during a general
strike in 2012."Looking at it, one feels the fear of the clerk,"
the jury says. The award carries a prize of 15,000 euros ($19,580).Morenatti
