This may actually be an SQL issue. If you are using DBI, you can write
your select statement as follows:
select f1, f2, f3, f4 [etc] from tablename where f1 = 'value' order by
columnname
When you get your statement handler, you can create a while loop and a
counter that will insert a break of an appropriate type when the
counter reaches your parameter and will reset the counter.

Beside being used for method calls, '->' is also with references in
general for dereferencing. That is
$aref->[0] - Using an array reference as an array
$href->{foo} - Using an hash reference as an hash
$sref->(1,2,3) - Using a subroutine reference (ie. call the sub)
Read more about this in the perlref documentation under 'Using
references', rule number 3.

I believe it's possible with IPC::Run, which has pretty much every way
of running a program and capturing its output I ever needed. I can't
give you the exact solution but you'll see very relevant examples in the
first pages of the module's documentation (especially feeding one
child's output to another). You can install IPC::Run from CPAN.

In general, you just don't do that. If you want to put processing code
in separate files, just use those files from the same CGI program. IOW,
use modules. That's more efficient and less error prone than trying
to invoke stand-alone scripts from each other (not to mention that doing
that will probably not work out of the box for CGI scripts that read
POST data).

But in the sense of putting the search and fetch functions in the same cgi,
how come results can be generated after accepting users' input parameters? A
simple example based on my simplified codes will be appreciated~
