Well, that's the use of the *pipe charachter* to perform a particular
kind of open() which indeed mimics a shell's usage that's available
not only in *NIX ones, BTW.

5-10k lines, you call that a large scale app?
Dude I don't know where you work at, but large scale apps start at
around 100k lines of code. I have written several apps in C++ that have
about 50k loc and I wouldn't consider them as large scale apps.

Dude, a typical portion of C++ code to do something may well take
about ten lines to do what the corresponding perl code would do in
one. Yes: faster, nearer to bare metal if need bet, etc. etc. Anyway
if you're putting things to this level: mine is longer than yours,
hahaha! ;-)

Folks,
I am trying to make http://unixgu.ru/tmp/ctf-dhcpd/test.pl work, as I
need a DHCP server that can pull the leases from LDAP.
The ldap patches to the ISC DHCP server also do not work for me,
but the schema seems way too complicated in that case also.
I have the LDAP lookups working, and sendAnswer (in the perl script)
says it is working, but my clients do not receive an answer.
The routine in question is sendAnswer below. I usually have a
firewall on this machine, but it is configured to accept any traffic
from the LAN.
A regular DHCP server works, and I have tried turning the firewall
off, without success.
Any ideas ?

Steve P: You do not login anonymously, it verifies that you are a customer with your IP address. That is all the login information is for.
Steve P: No login is required, you can still post with your same credentials as before.
subscriber: So I can still see all my old groups then, it just uses clients ip then?
Steve P: That's correct.

Steve P: No, because it will use the WAN IP of the router, not your internal network.
