I see no reason why I should have to do that. Nobody in this ng has
a right to dictate to others how to post and I take offense.

I have done that as well and for the first time, I actually received a
human looking response after the automated response. I think they are
genuinely concerned about fake From: headers etc.

I would encourage anyone on this group who does not like the fact that
his/her name is being used by this poster to indeed contact his ISP.

Their acceptable use policy specifically states:

<blockquote>

You are prohibited from using the Service for activities that include,
but are not limited to:

    * Harassing users or groups in any way including but not limited to
defaming, abusing, stalking, threatening or otherwise violating
      the legal rights of others.
    * Impersonating other Sympatico subscribers or other Internet
service providers' subscribers in any way.

What exactly is your complaint? And are you speaking for the entire
anal clique or just yourself? Why don't you start up a moderated
group and then you can exclude those who object to the anal
behaviour of the small anal clique? Doesn't that sound like a good
plan?

If and when we spoof your _real_ internet address, then you will
have a valid complaint. Until that time, we suggest that you and
the other anals show some respect for the other posters in this ng
by stop telling them how to post.

It's true. Perhaps you also take offense at having to stand in line for
tickets, and just cut to the front. Certainly, there's no law requiring you
to stand in line, and if they wanted to require everyone to stand in line,
they should have installed some sort of turnstile or ropes or something, or
maybe brought in armed guards to enforce line-standing.

But when you get to the ticket window, and they say "Sorry, we aren't selling
tickets to you... you didn't stand in line", don't be surprised.

That's all this is. How to stand in line. If that's too complex for you,
don't worry... you're probably already in a few killfiles by now, so this
group is now nearly useless unless what you want is advice from fellow
beginners.

But standing in line is a universal "rule." It is not a rule
advocated by a small anal clique.

> But when you get to the ticket window, and they say "Sorry, we

But what if you told them that you were a member of the small anal
clique and you had decreed that cutting in line was ok?

No, that is not all this is. There is no standing in line here.
There is a small anal clique putting up an unenforceable sign saying
that you are only allowed to post in a certain way. Your sign is
being pissed on and ignored by those of us who object to being told
what to do by a small anal clique.

In every group of people there are small anal cliques that feel it
is their duty to organize people to do things in a certain way that
the small anal clique deems to be reasonably anal.

But we shit on you and your rules. We will not be dictated to by a
self-appointed, small anal clique.

Why the exclamation point?

I remember this exact same script being posted here before. It is good
that you gave credit to the original author.

On the other hand, I prefer to help people with problems they encounter
when writing their own programs, rather than fix scripts written by a
third-party so the poster can copy and paste with impunity.

That said, the program successfully opens two notepad windows and the
msiexec options dialog on my system, then proceeds to cause a GPF when
one of those is closed.

That probably has to with how POE works, and I do not know anything
about that.

You can replace all of those lines of code with:

   my @tasks = qw/ notepad msiexec notepad /;
