I need a procedure for calculations with dates,
e.g. let
  $date1= 22 June 1960
  $date2= 29 August 2004
then i would appreciate a procedure that calculates
the time-difference from $date1 until $date2 and such things.

Are there data-formats for dates and such
procedures? Where do I find them?

Best regards.

Yes.

In the part of the docs that describes built-in functions and in CPAN.

Surprise, surprise...

I am hoping to locate an experienced Perl programmer with XML
experience who can assist me (or is for hire) in creating a
non-commercial Perl script that will accept a non-XML coded text file
and produce a well-formed, validating XML file based on a supplied DTD.

If there is anyone who is interested or can point us in the right

Your reply is even more meaningless and more noise compared to the
crosspost. Why? You didn't add anything, you quote an entire message and
you just tweaked the follow up to header in a bad way.

My aim was simply to get it the hell off c.l.c as quickly as possible.

So you edited that one out, and decided to bother all other groups with
your ineffective attempt?

> Now, go away. And please, stay away.

Like I already said, it doesn't work that way. The only way to make an
follow up effective is to write a useful contribution to the thread, and
set the follow up to the most appropriate group (and keep your fingers
crossed). Not what you did, moreover you only add noise instead of removing
it. Ignore the thread, it will end in 2-3 days. If you keep feeding it your
way it will become more and more off topic and last 5-10 days.

By classic OO perl I mean using package and blessing hash/array/etc into it.
Potential advantage is avoiding separate file/package when you only need a
few methods for your objects.

That depends on what do you mean it should provide to be an alternative.
This example has *some* OO qualities like object methods and inheritance; in
that way it follows OO paradigm (OO paradigm in general, not that of perl).

>Otherwise, classes whose objects are coderefs offer better protection

Yes; unfortunately I'm not sure if you can inherit from such class; perhaps
building parent so it can provide data container for it's children?

>of the class (in terms of number and complexity of methods) has little

Now that you mention this, I can only say that my OO coderefs doesn't suffer
completely like blessed ones. :)

Message-Id: <UEKQe.46508$xU.2398@fe69.usenetserver.com>

I am looking for helpful (as opposed to unhelpful) replies.

I wrote a simple eBayAPI perl module XML::eBayAPI. It allows sending
programmatic queries to eBay using XML based eBay API.

Its use is as follows:

my $ebay = new XML::eBayAPI( {
                              site_level => 'prod',
                              DeveloperKey => '...',
                              ApplicationKey => '...',
                              CertificateKey => '...',
                              Token => '...',
                             } );

$ebay->submitRequest( "AddItem",
                      {
                       DetailLevel => "0",
                       ErrorLevel => "1",
                       SiteId = > "0",
                       Verb => "  AddItem",
                       Category => "14111",
                       CheckoutDetailsSpecified => "0",
                       Country => "us",
                       Currency => "1",
                       Description => "For sale is like new <A HREF=http://www.example.com/jhds/>thingamabob</A>.Shipping is responsibility of the buyer.",
                       Duration => "7",
                       Location => "Anytown, USA, 43215",
                       Gallery => 1,
                       GalleryURL => 'http://igor.chudov.com/images/mark_mattson.jpg',
                       MinimumBid => "0.99",
                       BuyItNowPrice => 19.99,
                       PayPalAccepted => "1",
                       PayPalEmailAddress => "ichudov\@example.com",
                       Quantity => "1",
                       Region => "60",
                       Title => "Igor's Item with Gallery xaxa",
                      }
                    );

that would add an item for sale on ebay.

My question is, how do I make a nice CPAN distribution out of that
module, so that it installs with MakeMaker, or whatever. There is a
nice Python system called pyeBay, but not much for perl, that I could
have found. So, I wanted to release something simple and easy.

I think that XML::eBayAPI is not the best name.

There is something similar for Google, and it's called Net::Google. There
is also a Net::Amazon.

I don't want to discuss if the Net name is a good one, only that I would
expect an Net::eBay, not an XML::eBayAPI. That is uses XML doesn't matter,
a module should be an abstraction. Also, that it's an API is clear :-)

Just my 2 pesos :-)

I am completely open to different suggestions. eBayAPI is the name of
the API, and XMLis there because it is XML based. I am not "married"
to any particular name.

Okay, so, let's say I will call it Net::eBay. Fine with me.

How do I make it into a nice CPAN distro?
