Maybe check to see if the line endings in the data file got changed in
the process of transferring files. Depending on how you transferred it,
the process could have inserted or deleted ^M or some such.
Also, does your script use any modules? Could there be different
versions of the modules on the two machines?
Also, AP build 509 is quite out of date, you might want to upgrade tho I
doubt that is what is causing your current woes.

Okay ... is there a spam panick settling in ... weel that's not what we
are going to do ... Yes we want to post automatically to usenet but with
relevant jobs in their relevant categories. Please see the
alt.jobs/uk.jobs.contract, .... these groups accept this kind of
submission.
So now that this is cleared ... anyone still left with ideas.

It's about sharing information ... right ? Useful information. Or did
I get it completely wrong in the first place. The point is we want to
distribute job offers (legitimate IT jobs) which will offer real careers
to real people. Or is that offensive to the job seeker. I understand
it would be carried on someone else's server (who has to pay for the
connection time and hard disk space) but why are they then doing it in
the first place (except to carry a.b.p.e.f. or worse)
No offense ... If one wants to do it they'll do it anyway. Just give
the well intentioned people a break.

This is how things are supposed to be handled *now*.

Yes, if the caller code of Foo has
foo bar, baz;
and foo() is prototypeless yet, then Foo::AUTOLOAD_PROTO('foo') is
called the moment C<foo> is seen. This allows for the lexer to
understand whether foo() takes one argument C<bar>, or eats all the
arguments C<bar, baz>.
This trades the overhead of declaring prototypes for all the stuff to
an extra subroutine call per each *used* function.

You take one objective and pretend there are no others.

This is already so for non-autoloaded functions.

Fuck the "accepted" charter. This is the INTERNET. We as a people
decide our social standards, not some controlling higher body.
And yes, by the way- if I had a "general algorythym" question I
definately might post it to a perl programming group (or a java group
or a c group or a lisp group) Know why? Because is TANGENTIALLY RELATED.

Message-Id: <7sbht9$u12$1@nnrp1.deja.com>
I am running a perl script that execute some SQL statements/store
procedures on MS-SQL server 6.5. It looks like these store
procedures/sql statements is querying the database but once I hit
reload it's returns no results. That is, if I keep reloading the same
page, it will return some result sometimes and some times no results.
We are using a pool connection to the Database, which mean we have to
specify which database it's pointing to. I did specify ALL the
database, but still didn't fix the bug. Anybody have any idea what I
should check next?
Thank you much,

Subject: LWP and secure connections
Message-Id: <37E9386C.E5512D9E@wfubmc.edu>
Hi!
I know that LWP doesn't currently support 433 secure socket connections.
However, I've made a simple script that connects to a secure server,
sending it sensitive info - I placed this script on my server (a hosted
site) and ran it through my own secure server.
Am I right in saying that the information passed from my host to the
secure server was not encrypted? Even though the script ran fine on my
secure (https) server and connected to another secure one?
Thanks for any info. I know that there are other modules out there like
OpenSSL and SSLeay - but with my hosting accounts I don't have root
access to install these modules.
Thanks
Steve

Yes.

You can install modules in your own directory and set the PERL5LIB env
variable or you could use a 'use lib "/dir/where/ssllibs/live"' pragma.
You could also ask your SA to install them. :)

Message-Id: <37E94695.DD27494D@vr1.com>
Dear All
I am updating a series of scripts that use MailHandler to access a
trouble ticket queue. The CGI script gets the REMOTE_USER information
and then tries to feed it into a MailHandler query
/usr/local/bin/pick --assigned-to $remote_user +trouble
Unfortunately, the script does not see the .mh_profile info in the users
home directories and then tries to run an initializing script that
croaks because it doesn't have permissions to create new
files/directories.
Has anyone ported MH to perl5? Any suggestions as to how to do this?
Thanks
kevin

Well I figure about five minutes of :
perl -e 'fork while(1)'
Would probably require the switch to resolve on this machine ...

gives the year and day number?
eg. 1992 day 236
..any ideas on the web. etc would be much appreciated.

Use the lwp modules available from CPAN. I believe they're in the
libwww bundle of modules.

Here's a more straightforward solution (it's your call as to whether it's
any better):
$hexstring = '464646204646460a';
%hexbits = (
'0' => '0000',
'1' => '0001',
'2' => '0010',
'3' => '0011',
'4' => '0100',
'5' => '0101',
'6' => '0110',
'7' => '0111',
'8' => '1000',
'9' => '1001',
'a' => '1010',
'b' => '1011',
'c' => '1100',
'd' => '1101',
'e' => '1110',
'f' => '1111',
);
print map($hexbits{$_}, split(//, lc($hexstring) ));

If this is the actual message then somewhere you have made a typo because
that mysql should be capitalized - I havent got it on this machine so I
cant tell exactly how it is capitalized though ... I would favour MySQL
but that is a guess.
