problems on quiche

1. I can't run tcsh. Nor can I log in as root, which has a shell of
tcsh. I get "tcsh: Permission denied", and it goes away.
Interesting tidbits: The permissions on the executable look fine.
Purging all references to tcsh from my environment variables doesn't
help. (Just for kicks I also deleted all references to my homedir.)
I get the exact same problem if I copy it to another name and try to
run the copy. (The message still says "tcsh", so I suspect the binary
starts running and prints the message using a hard-coded program
name.)
2. I have a geometry resource loaded into the X server:
zwgc.style*geometry: +0-0
Some incoming messages cause zwgc to spew messages into my console
window complaining that "+0-0" is not a valid color.
