It will? Normally people make a symlink /usr/bin/X11/X ->
XF86_WHATEVER (in particular, startx won't work without that), so no
changes should need to be made.
In fact, slackware does this when you install an X server package
(and the last one installed wins).
In other news, has anyone managed to get the slackware 2.0.2
ConfigXF86 (whatever it's called) configure script to work? I did a
quick lookover of it, and I'm not convinced that it could ever work on
any system (like, it references temporary files it doesn't create)
