As that guy in The Princess Bride said, "let me explain". I've been
mildly involved in the development of a miserable failure of a Linux
distribution called Debian. A few weeks ago, the newest Debian base
system was privately released to the developers. I wanted to install
it somewhere to try it out. And there was /var/tmp on Quiche, a 100
meg partition with about 95 megs free. So I installed it on there and
played with it for a while.
When I was done playing with it, I didn't bother removing all the
files, since they're in a tmp directory, and somebody will make them
go away someday.
I think maybe I'll nuke them and play with the "Bogus" distribution on
that partition. :-)
I don't /usr/tmp/dev/null is very useful to have.
True. It's not particularly awful either.
