From experience on glacier, Linux 1.1.36 appears to have destructive
file system bugs; I wound up reinstalling glacier from scratch (I have
a fairly low damage threshhold for doing so, since I don't keep much
on the local disk of that system). Among other problems, an entire
directory became unlinked.

I'm going to back quiche out to Linux 1.1.33 and install Derek's older
AFS stuff. It won't run programs out of AFS (as far as I can tell,
his 1.1.36 stuff won't run programs out of AFS either), but it seems
much more stable.
