IS (now called IS&T, BTW) is taking steps to more formally support
Linux.
To this end, the Software Release Team has asked me for an appropriate
list to receive SWRT communications, including the monthly software
update.
To clarify: The Sofware Release Team sends out periodic announcements
to platform-specific email lists when new or updated application
software and utilities become available. There is also a monthly email
newsletter that goes to all lists. It gives status of release efforts
under way, and important ramp-up and ramp-down of support issues. Of
particular interest is the announcement of when support of particular OS
versions ramps up or down.
Possibilities are:
nobody new gets this note. (Probably the wrong answer.)
a new IS&T-owned list gets created. (Has start-up issues.)
linux-help gets used. (Covers helpers, but not end-user's.)
linux-announce gets used. (IS&T doesn't own this list.)
It was suggested I ask this question of Linux-dev:
What email list should be added to the SWRT mix? Is linux-announce
appropriate?
