Unfortunately this is more complicated than you seem to
express below.
Simply telling a user to type 'update_ws 9.0' is useless
if they don't have hesiod information. (In fact telling
them to type update_ws at all is probably a bad idea without
mentioining that they need to have hesiod info for this to
work properly). If they are newly registered for hesiod information
(in the install process) -- they should probably just let
their machine update on its own once the hesiod info exists.
If they already had hesiod info (reinstall, request early, etc)
then typing update_ws 9.0 is fine.
When I have more 'free time' -- see "Not until after the beginning
of April" -- I will look into what needs to change in the documentation
in more detail. SInce this really only matters to people that already
have hesiod info and want to update "right away" as opposed to letting
the update happen, it doesn't seem more critical than that.
If someone else would like to work up changes that account for the things
mentioned above, more power to you, feel free :>
