Linux Xzewd now works "properly." Rather than wasting all of the CPU
cycles, it only wastes most of them. The problem was that Linux
select modifies its timeout each time through to reflect how much
time is remaining. Xzewd-zephyr-baby only sets the time out at the
top of a forever loop. This timeout would disappear to zero and the
thing would spin and use up all available cycles. A fixed package
of xzewd for Linux is available via
http://foundation.mit.edu/linux/xzewd/LinuxXzewd.html
or
ftp://foundation.mit.edu/pub/linux/packages/xzewd.tgz
I personally never use xzewd. I just thought that some people
might want to. As such, I not really provide support
or maintain it. I won't announce it anywhere until others have
tested it. Maybe not even then...
Remaining bugs:
* help doesn't seem to work
* backgrounding it kills it
* reliant on AFS-NFS translator
None of these are critical. Hence they are unimportant.
If you want the source mods, send me email.
